RUSTON, La. – Alcorn State was slow out of the blocks during a 98-65 loss to Louisiana Tech on Monday night.
The Braves allowed the Bulldogs to score the game’s first 11 points, a factor that led to Alcorn State facing a 47-22 deficit at the break. The Braves weren’t able to make up enough ground, never getting closer than 25 despite a big game by Reginal Johnson, who had a career-high 25 points in the game to lead all players in the game. He also added seven boards.Alcorn State allowed three La Tech players to reach the 20-point mark in the tilt.
This marks the fourth straight setback for the Braves after starting the year 2-2.
#15 DePaul 94, Prairie View A&M 62
ROSEMONT, ILL. – Prairie View A&M struggled defensively in its 94-62 loss to DePaul on Monday. The Panthers were led by Alexus Parker, who recorded 15 points along with eight rebounds. Jeroina Allen and Kayla Bell also scored in double figures, netting 11 points each in the loss.
Prairie View (4-5) struggled mightily on the defensive end of the floor in this contest. The Panthers trailed DePaul 11-31 after the first quarter of play, and 20-49 at halftime. PVAMU played better in the second half, outscoring DePaul 22-14 in the fourth quarter, but the deficit was too large to overcome. The Panthers were heavily outrebounded in this contest 47-39, and the Panthers were also outboarded 18-7 on the offensive glass.
The Panthers will be in action again on Friday Dec. 16, when PVAM hosts Texas State at 7:00PM CT.
