Alabama State 53, Miles 20
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A dominating second half was the difference for the Hornets, who concluded their season in style with a 53-20 defeat of Miles College i the 93rd Annual Turkey Day Classic at the New ASU Stadium.
After allowing two first-quarter touchdowns to the Golden Bears, the Hornets owned the game from there. ASU would scored in the first and second quarters to get the game at 14-12 entering haltime.
Bradley Street handed the Hornets the lead when he started the second half off in the best way possible by returning the kickoff the length of the field for a 100-yard touchdown, and it was all Hornets from there. After a Ricky Haley pick-six and a 420yard scoring romp by Khalid Thomas, ASU ultimately went on to score 34 points in the third quarter as part of a run where the Hornets put up 53 unanswered points after Miles’ fast start.
A garbage-time touchdown from Miles resulted in the final score.
Thomas rushed for 171 yards and two scores. Quinterris Toppings was 17-of-24 for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Ronnie Scott and Kourtney Berry each picked up six tackles, and Andre Wilson got to the quarterback twice.
