Let’s Get Serious and Recharge: Health, Wellness, and Fitness Expo by Phinesse Demps

Indie Soul Magazine is pleased and honored to be one of the Media Sponsors for the Let’s Get Serious Expo, which now has an added component: RECHARGE. According to Chere Goode, “Each year is exciting, fun, and full of energy. This year we have added more space for our fitness exercises. Since laughter is good for our health, we have added Pamela Hill (also known as Ms. Maybelle) as our opening Host and Comedian. We have 95.9 FMs own April Watts (“Boo Cake”) as our Mistress of Ceremonies and D.J. Boobie providing our music. We have also added new fitness instructors to our lineup.”

Why is this Expo so important? “Our health is our most prized possession. This expo encourages, motivates, and stimulates people of all races, ages, and walks of life to take a serious look at how they are caring for themselves. They can get educated and make necessary changes needed to make wellness a lifestyle. With the death of my father, David Swann, at the age of 59 from a heart attack in his sleep, I decided to leap into action to help others take a serious look at their health and the unhealthy lifestyles that could have detrimental effects on their lives. I want to educate others so that another family does not have to feel the loss that my family felt from the untimely and young death of a loved one”, says Goode.

The Expo, going into year seven, seems to get bigger and better every year. So what’s in store for 2017? According to Goode, “50+ vendors, shopping, free health assessments, free fitness assessments, free healthy food samples, interactive fitness sessions, a healthy cooking demo by Chef Von Key, free dental screenings for kids in the Colgate Winnebago, music, henna artists, kid activities that include balloon and face painting, free hands only CPR training by Vital Sign Training, giveaways and more. Most importantly it’s FREE for the entire family to attend.”

The best part of the expo is the live instruction demos. Who are some of the fitness instructors you are featuring this year? “Each year we have fitness demos with audience participation to give our attendees a glimpse of the variety of fitness options available to them in order to stay healthy. Our experienced Fitness Instructors will teach longer 30-minute segments this year compared to previous years. We have also added some new faces to the lineup. Just know there will be plenty of moving around to great music”, says Goode.

From a vendor or sponsorship perspective, is too late for either, and if not, what types of vendors or sponsors are you looking for? Goode answers, “It’s never too late to get in on the action! We are still accepting sponsors and vendors and have openings for a variety of them. There is a list of our current sponsors and vendors confirmed on our website letsgetserious2017.eventbrite.com. Payment is confirmation as a vendor. We never do repeat vendors so don’t delay in registering your business.
