NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Texas Southern fell 3-0 to Stephen F. Austin in a mid-week tilt Wednesday afternoon.

TSU struggled to get going offensively, but kept SFA off the scoreboard early on. The Lady Jacks eventually broke through in the third as Amber Landry hit a RBI single to put SFA up 1-0. The Lady Jacks added another run in the fourth.

TSU threatened in the fifth when Madilynn Marek and Sierra Valdez reached via singles, but Jocilynn Ellis flied out to end the scoring chance. SFA added a run in the sixth for insurance, and Texas Southern was unable to generate any offensive threat down the stretch.

Jasmin Fulmore got the loss, allowing eight hits in a complete game and two earned runs while striking out seven.

Sam Houston State 9, Prairie View 0 (F/5; Game 1)
Sam Houston State 11, Prairie View 0 (F/5; Game 2)

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Prairie View A&M dropped both sides of a double-header to Sam Houston State, falling 9-0 in game one and 11-0 in game two.

Game one was marred by miscues from Prairie View, as Sam Houston State tacked on four runs in the opening inning. Prairie View’s Taylor Drury ultimately allowed seven runs to the Lady Bearkats in her 1.1-inning start, but only three of them were earned as every run scored by SHSU in the first came following an error at third base.

PVAMU was limited to three hits in the contest, with Destinee Williams accounting for two of them.

The Lady Panthers’ offensive struggles continued in game two, as the team only mustered two hits. After a scoreless first, PVAMU starter Ashley Higgins allowed five runs in the second inning. Sam Houston State extended its lead to double-digits in the fourth with a six-run frame.

Higgins received the loss, allowing 11 hits and nine runs (eight earned) in 3.1 innings. Laurisa Hernandez and Kiara Ross each had one hit for PVAMU, with Ross hitting a double.
