CHESAPEAKE, Va., March 24, 2017—The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) completed the first day of the 2017 MEAC Bowling Championship at the AMF Lanes on Friday.
The eight-team field competed in five traditional games to determine seeding for the championship tournament. Seedings were based on Friday’s total pinfall.
Maryland Eastern Shore, by virtue of its 4,887 total pins over the five games, will be the No. 1 seed on Saturday; the Hawks, who went 3-2 on Friday, will take on No. 8 seed Bethune-Cookman at 9 a.m. North Carolina A&T State, which totaled 4,713 pins, earned the No. 2 seed.
The Southern Division champion Lady Aggies will take on No. 7 seed Florida A&M to open Saturday’s action.
Delaware State, the Northern Division champion, earned the No. 3 seed with 4,708 total pins; the Lady Hornets also won all five of their games on Friday, and they will square off against No. 6 Morgan State in the first round of Saturday’s best-of-seven Baker action.
No. 4 Norfolk State and No. 5 Howard will also square off at 9 a.m.
From there, the teams will advance through a pair of double-elimination brackets in order to determine the two teams that will meet in Sunday’s championship match. Matches on Saturday are also scheduled for 10:40 a.m., 12:20 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. (if necessary).
The 2017 MEAC Bowling Championship wraps up on Sunday with the championship final at 12 p.m. The championship match will be televised via tape-delay on ESPNU on Sunday, April 2 at 9 p.m.
