EL PASO, Texas – The Hawks (2-12) made sure they were remembered at the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational with a spot in the title game on Thursday night, but the programs first tournament title since 1979 wasn’t to be.
Kennesaw State 68, North Carolina A&T State 60
KENNESAW, Ga. – The North Carolina A&T men’s basketball team played their final game of the Gotham Classic with a 68-60 loss to Kennesaw State at the KSU Convocation Center on Thursday afternoon. It was a four-game classic that turned out to be both encouraging and frustrating at the same time. The Aggies went 0-4 with previous losses to UMass by six, Pacific by nine and Rider by one.
Old Dominion 65, Howard 46
NORFOLK, Va. – Zoran Talley, returning from a five-game suspension, scored a career-high 18 points and Brandan Stith posted a double-double to lead Old Dominion to a 65-46 victory over Howard on Thursdaynight.
Mount St. Mary’s (Md.) 87, Coppin State 49
EMMITSBURG, Md. – Coppin State men’s basketball ended the non-conference portion of their schedule with an 87-49 loss at Mount St. Mary’s on Thursday.
Samford 83, Florida A&M 63
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Triston Chambers had 20 points, including six 3-pointers, and Samford cruised to an 83-63 win over Florida A&M on Thursday night.
Iowa 89, Delaware State 57
IOWA CITY, Ia. – Delaware State hit just five-of-33 first half shots and never recovered in an 89-57 loss to Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena this evening. The Hawkeyes won their fifth straight game to improve to 8-5, while the Hornets lost their third in a row to fall to 3-11.
St. Mary’s 74, South Carolina State 47
MORAGA, Calif. – Jock Landale had 20 points and 11 rebounds and No. 19 Saint Mary’s pulled away with a big second half to beat South Carolina State 74-47 on Thursday night and wrap up its non-conference schedule.
