History was made! The first ever pro-state approved MMA fights in NYS history took place in Oneida, NY. According to Indie Soul Magazine reporter Terrill Dean, "It is an honor to have been a part of something this ground breaking! I've been a HUGE fan of MMA from the days when Pride would be in that odd cable channel to only be seen at 2am!” Publisher Phinesse Demps adds, “Our overall goal is to highlight events that are run by people of color and to show or highlight those same fighters, who are also people of color, that we can not only be part of the entertainment but we can also be in charge as well.” The company that put it all together was Combantes Americas, the 1st Hispanic MMA organization! What a great time with an awesome group of people and fighters! It was a pleasure to see this organization put on a great fight card and show NYS an excellent example on how to do MMA all while, more importantly, having an Hispanic influence behind it all. Special shoutout goes to Tuff-N-Nuff for their efforts on this ground breaking event. Check out Combantes because they're going to do big things! (www.combateamericas.com).
