Thomas Wolfe was the guy who said “ You can’t go home again”, it was Ro Brooks accomplished actor and now author who just wrote the book, “How To Go From Extra To Actor- The Aspiring actor’s guide to stardom” strongly disagrees with that statement. According to Brook’s it is important that those who are from ANY particular community, and we make it, we must go home and give back. “The City of Baltimore, especially my people needed to see me here. I wanted to help in which anyway I can” said Brooks.
On Saturday November 5th, 2016 it was evident not only did Baltimore need him, he needed the people as well. Ro Brooks was in town to do an official book signing at the Enoch Pratt Library on Pennsylvania Avenue, in the heart of the area where the riots tooh place in 2015. When asked “Why?”, Ro Brooks replied, “Why not?”, enough said.
It was standing room only as friends, family, and fans came not only see and hear Ro Brooks, but to support him as well. Brooks did not disappoint as he discussed his experiences growing up in Baltimore to his experiences in acting, especially in the movie Meteor Man.
“ I wrote this book as a guide to help the next person be more prepared then I was. This is just one the many ways that I figured I could give back.’ Stated Brooks. The book I would consider more of a manual on how to exceed in this business of acting from how to dress for success, writing your resume, to other tidbits like casting companies and how to get paid.
If you are serious about this business of acting, then this is definitely something you should have in your library.
